As with any new product it is difficult to know all the questions without physically using it first.įortunately Chris Gillit from Garmin will be present during our promo day and I am sure that he will be able to answer most of the questions we'll have.Garmin is changing the game once again with the release of Quickdraw Contours. As for the swell, according to the literature I have studied, it does have an option to calibrate the Quickdraw in accordance with the swell height and period. I personally think the Quickdraw software's purpose is more too draw the contours in uncharted areas rather than calculate depths dependent on the tide, but I might be wrong. If you look under your tidal menu of your GPS, you will see that your GPS always knows the tide as well as the height of the tide depending on the moon phase. It might be that the unit will use this data to auto calibrate, but I cannot confirm that at this stage. Now if one looks at your normal digital (and paper) charting, depths are always given at the lowest possible depths. I'd like to load this onto my 721xs, will the software also work on my Garmin 50s? And would i be able to take recordings and transfer them from unit to unit? Does it take tides into consideration? I like to sometimes plot reefs in shallow water and wondering how it might draw different images depending on tidal differences i.e water depths? And how will it take swell into consideration?
